I started this blog because I love to take motorcycle trips both local and around the country. And I love finding that roadside attraction or quaint town and of course the best places to eat. So I'd like to share my adventures with friends old and new. And I would like to hear about yours. Feel free to share. What's the nicest ride you've ever taken? The most scenic ride? The longest ride? Rallies you've been to with thousands or a solo ride? The town you fell in love with? The food that you'd go back for? Talk about the motorcycle shops along the way. We all love a warm friendly face. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, so use them to help others share your experience.

Thanksgiving on the river..

Who would have thought that we'd be spending Thanksgiving on a floating bar next to a campground on the Colorado River??? This is also the place that we ride to every Sunday morning for breakfast. When our friends told us that Fox's does a great Thanksgiving feast and that we should plan on being a part of it this year, we couldn't refuse. The forecast was perfect and we made the date.
We were told that Fox's cooks a dozen or more turkeys and everyone brings a side dish or dessert so there's enough food for a small army. Laura whipped up a batch of delicious pumpkin cookies and I made some candied yams and off we went.
Although there were some early clouds the temps were great by the time we got there and the clouds moved out to bring a wonderful day. We got there early enough to get a seat at the bar and meet up with our friends for a holiday cocktail before dinner.
Al lives around the corner from us and we've been riding with him for a few weeks now. He's also introduced us to more great people and has become a very good friend in a very short time. Al and some of our other friends were staying the weekend and had gotten there earlier in the day.
The food line was wrapped around the building so we waited a little while for it to calm down. We knew they weren't going to run out of food! When we got inside it was unbelievable!. Table after table was set with more food than a Vegas buffet! They had deep fried turkey, oven baked turkey, smoked turkey, white meat, dark meat, tray after tray of potato sides, vegetable casseroles, gravy and a variety of stuffing for every taste. Then you came to the dessert area! From cute little turkey pops to cakes and pies and of course Laura's pumpkin cookies.
So with dishes filled we got back to our seats and had a fabulous and filling dinner thanks to Fox's and our friends.
After dinner and a little time for everyone to settle in and relax a bit, the DJ set up and it was time for some Karaoke. The cocktails had been flowing since early in the day so it was quite an interesting evening. Actually some of the singers did very well and there were a lot of folks dancing and singing along.Friends John and Daryl were also spending the night so the party was going nonstop. We had a great time and when we told them that we were leaving because we hadn't planned on spending the night, it took but a few minutes and we found that we had one of the campsite houses to stay in so we weren't going anywhere!
More dancing and partying and fun and meeting more new friends.
Not realizing that it was still a little early but we were sort of winding down a bit, we decided that it was time to head up to Daryls trailer and sit outside with another cocktail or two but less noise and jumping around.
With temperatures that still were pretty nice and some great people and conversation, we were very thankful this year for all that we've done and been blessed with. We moved to our new home in Arizona, met some very nice people, we're enjoying weather that we're not accustomed to, and Laura is staying with us for an undetermined time. I gotta say that right now I'm feeling that life is good and I'm where I want to be. It was a fabulous Thanksgiving but unfortunately all good things must come to and end so before long it was time for Laura to say goodnight. Daryl had his dog Charlie with him and he and Laura hit it off quite well.
